FDA Warns Against Testosterone Overuse- can cause heart problems

The Food and Drug Administration is warning doctors against over-prescribing testosterone-boosting drugs for men, saying the popular treatments have not been established as safe or effective for common age-related issues like low libido and fatigue.

Testosterone supplements may increase the risk of heart attack, stroke and other heart problems, FDA said. Drugmakers must add information about that potential risk to their prescribing labels and conduct a long-term study to further examine the issue, the FDA said.

Clarissa Garcia, American Heart Association shared a link with me today on a report regarding salt intake and the primary take home message is, ” It described a healthy eating pattern as rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, fish/seafood, legumes, and nuts; moderate in non- and low-fat dairy products and alcohol; lower in red and processed meats; and low in sugar-sweetened foods and beverages and refined grains (i.e., grains that are stripped of some of their nutrients and thus are not whole grains).”

Excessive running could kill you: study :: jogging lightly on a regular basis could extend your life

Regular light jogging may put you on the road to a longer life, a new study suggests.
 Results are published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.

Researchers registered 28 deaths among joggers and 128 among sedentary non-joggers. In general, the joggers were younger, had lower blood pressure and body mass index, and had a lower prevalence of smoking and diabetes.
